Beaded Goddess Pin

I had a little fun these last few very cold days. Staying home has it's advantages -- I made this little beaded goddess pin. She measures 3 1/2 inches tall by 3 inches wide. She was fun to do. The little butterfly is a Swarovski piece. This little pin will soon be winging her way to a warmer climate and a new home in Australia. In this photo (below) taken in her new home, the pin dolls colors show much truer

Ever feel like this?????

This is how I feel I want to spend today LOL. After the 39 degrees below zero (F) wind chill last night -- and the crisp cold morning today -- fighting my mail server -- and just plain tired of winter -- think I'll mimic the cartoon above.

Snow gone .. more to come ..

Well, our snow melted and today it was rainy and fairly warm for January ---- BUT, there is a winter watch in effect for tonight -- more snow and blowing and cold -- so, this afternoon I said the heck with cleaning the house and headed out to a bead shop. There are no bead shops in my town -- and the closest one (8 miles away) just closed so it was a full afternoon adventure. Oh, what fun -- I didn't get many beads ( had just ordered some online ) but found such wonderful goodies and I am totally content to have it snow or whatever -- I have my stash of goodies to work with. It takes so little to make me happy ;-)

Cold Winter Day

On a cold, snowy, winter day the Junco (Snow Birds), usually ground feeders, will go where the food is. I caught these photos through the kitchen window -- no going outside for me :-)

Mother Nature's Beauty

With our sub zero weather Mother Nature still gives us beauty to behold.
These photos were taken thru the frosted kitchen window this morning. The beautiful patterns are actually that -- patterns made by the frost on the window. Some look like gorgeous white ferns -- Click on the above photo so you can really appreciate the beauty.

BEAD ARTISTS AGAINST BREAST CANCER

BEAD ARTISTS AGAINST BREAST CANCER

It's that time again -- time for all you beaders to give a bit of your time to bead up one or more of the tiny rose squares to be made into beaded "quilts".
Jeanette Shanigan is once again piecing all these little squares into quilts to be auctioned at the up coming Bead & Button Show in Milwaukee,WI, for the benefit of breast cancer research.

Please click HERE for a short article -- and then go to Jeanette's site BEAD-IT-FORWARD BREAST CANCER QUILT to see some of the "quilts" already made. Going to Jeanette's HOMEPAGE you will find free directions and instructions for sending your square(s). I participated in this last year and plan to do so again this year -- hope to see many of you there too.

Drinking, fishing or window shopping?

Staying with 2 grandsons the past week -- came down to breakfast and look where I found their cat, Dash. Fortunately George, the Beta Fish, didn't end up as Dash's breakfast -- but he sure was thinking about it

IN THE MAIL WHEN I GOT HOME.......

I think I will have to go away more often -- I had such fun opening mail when I got home today.
First two items were bead orders --

The other surprise items were a note and tube of wonderful beads from friend, Diana -- thank you, Diana -- the beads are great and the colors perfect -- and a hand made Dorset Button from Gretchen from the F.A.T. Dorset Button Trade. Love it.

Tornadoes ~~

Two nights ago tornadoes went through our area. Fortunately for us, we just had rain -- but about 30 miles from here there were tornadoes. My dear friend since grade school, Patti, is a member of the Illinois/Wisconsin Search and Rescue Unit. They were called into action to check demolished buildings for any possible victims. Fortunately, there were no fatalities in the area she was called to. Can you believe this remarkable lady is 71 years old and the younger police and other searchers have a hard time keeping up with her and her Bloodhound, Josie WalesThis is my friend with her dogs. Sadly, Emma Rose (left) has gone on to the Rainbow Bridge, but Josie Wales and Patti are still on call 24/7/365.

I recently participated in a beaded doll round robin on Beaded Art Dolls group. This was my first beaded doll round robin and it was such fun receiving "Blossom" back home. Thank you Jo, Joetta, Susan and Sue for the great beading on this little doll
