A Long Time Ago....

The close up photo is yours truly and our dear friend, Larry, that passed away a few weeks ago.
Not beading or stitching --- but fond memories.
This is our kindergarten group that I speak of so often
.
And here are some of us a "few" years later

Our 55th Reunion

This picture taken in October 2009 at our Elgin High School Class of 1954 Reunion -- hard to believe it was our 55th --- these are some of the Garfield Grade School Grads in attendance.
Somehow I can't locate photos from our 50th reunion in 2004.

I love the coat and hat.
I was not fortunate enough to have
my Grandpa make me a coat . but he
did buy me a raccoon walking coat.
I still have it.
I love old pictures of family members.
I just got some from my mom house. WE
are cleaning out her house.

Great Pic got to get to bed.

You look so cute, jackie! And your friend looks a bit shy? Or did he just not want his photo taken?
It must be terribly hard to lose a friend of such long standing...I'm sorry for your loss. But also envious that you are still in touch with other friends from that time! Is that common in the midwest? It sure isn't out here! My oldest friend is from high school and next oldest is from my college years.

Thank you all for you kind words.

BB, I think it is rather unusual for so many of us to stay close friends for so long. When we were growing up there was no TV and our doors were never locked - so we just went from house to house and had such wonderful times. These photos were taken either late fall of 1941 or spring of 1942. The second world war was just beginning -- even in young children I think that fostered a special closeness.

Grace, BB and Pearl thanks for your condolences __ Loosing Larry came as a double blow -- first we lost a life long friend, and second, it sure made us aware that all our time here on earth is measured. So live each day to the best of our ability -- tell our loved ones often that we love them and that they are special -- don't worry about tomorrow -- enjoy today.

I love these photos Jackie (especially the one of you and your friend Larry). You were adorable.

Can't imagine how difficult it must be to lose a friend you have known your whole life.

Much love

How very endearing and heart felt. The loving kindness of a life time of friendship. How poiniant and priceless. This really moved me. Now that my children are small, I can only imagine the future of the lives that they possess. How I hope that they will know this kind of friendship throughout their lives. I am very touched. I am so grateful that you had Larry to share your years.
