Today was the Kumihimo class -- and what a great time it was. Learned many ways of braiding -- there were only three of us in the class so we all had more individual time. Betty Kirk was the instructor and she was great. The class was held at TLD Design Center & Gallery in Westmont, IL. A long drive for me but well worth it.

Sounds like you had a lot of fun. How was the stool? Was it hard to use?
Jeanne
The stool worked GREAT -- the weights helped produce nice, tight and even braid. Loved it -- in fact, have pulled a stool from my studio and it is awaiting DH to do the honors of drilling a hole in the center. The weights were film canisters with pennies in and the center weight was washers hung from a shower hook. So easy and so very effective. Whoopee, I loved it.
2nd try- google has lost its mind tonight.
I thought that stool looked familiar. But where are the pics of the beads!!!LOL!

The beaded part comes next week -- but oh boy, Betty had samples of literally hundreds of braids, braids with beads, braids with tassels, round, flat, square -- you name it -- and I didn't think to take a photo of them. They were sooooo gorgeous.
Hi Jackie!
Glad you enjoyed your day....
Its great playing on the marudai...although i find cannot chat as forget where I am on the pattern rofl!!!
You look like you had fun!
What did this look like when you were done??
Anon and LB - I did have FUN, FUN, FUN. It was a great afternoon.
Stephanie, the piece we worked on was samples of different styles -- round, square, spiral, flat -- so the piece is just a sample of the way the different weavings turn out. Will be working on a piece next week that I will post when finished.
Thanks everyone for visiting and enjoying the class along with me.
Hi Jackie,
