Blog Book

Received the book I had made from my blog -- from the blogs beginning in 2006 thru 12-31-2008.  At the end of this year (the end of the week, LOL) I will have another book made containing most of my blog entries of 2009 and 2010.  I am pleased with the way the book turned out.  Thanks for the link, Robin.  This is great.

New Favorite.........

Here are 5 more finished scarves -- the super soft yarn is a delight to work with.

I started making these cute designer scarves. Very soft and warm and colorful

Have 5 different colors to work with.

Here's a pic of how I wind it onto my yarn winder and then use it FROM THE WINDER -- since this is a really quick project there is no problem in using the winder in this manner.  The yarn pulls off easily and in lengths you want to use.  And this sure saves the frustration of having it tangle all the time.
 Hope this will help a bit.

Christmas Program 2010

Tonight was the 3 youngest grandsons Christmas concert.  It was a beautiful night -- the children, the music, and while driving home a light snow that just put a lovely end to a wonderful evening.
 Are the boys getting tall or am I getting shorter --- or both?  :-)

Ending up the year 2010

I'm  finishing up some of the projects from 2010 and looking forward to doing some beading projects in the near future.  I will always keep some crochet projects close at hand -- most will be for the comfort/prayer shawl program at the hospital and also chemo caps.  Here are the three shawls I am currently working on. They are a simple repeat pattern -- easy and relatively fast to do and still  producing  a wonderfully soft and warm shawl  (I especially like Lion Brand Homespun yarn for these shawls). The Lavender (top left) and the Montana Sky (top right) just need the fringe applied. The pink is about 1/3 finished and the yellow is yet to be started.

Two Posts in One ~~~~~

December 4th, 2010

Our first "lasting" snow of the year.  Love that "first" one -- it is so clean and beautiful. Our Lab, Polly, loves it too -- here she is looking back at me thru the door and asking "Hey, Mom, won't you come out and play with me?"   ~~~~  I did ~~~~ and we both loved it.

Was surprised by daughter, Amy, with a birthday lunch at the Squire.  What a delightful time we had.
Thank you one and all.

Thanksgiving Weekend 2010

May 2007
Had a wonderful Thanksgiving.  Wish all the members of the family had been here -- but we were together in spirit and love.
And, speaking of love, what is sweeter than a boy's love for a dog?  Here are two pics of youngest grandson with our black lab, Polly.  One taken a little over three years ago and one this past weekend.

The Day Before Thanksgiving

Turkey ready to go in the oven -- trimmings in progress -- looking forward to a day with family -- just wish everyone could be here --
 love and special thoughts are sent to you all.
Cranberries cooking -- funny how our tastes change -- wasn't that long ago and I didn't like cranberries at all, now I love them --- and their bright red color in a crystal bowl looks so pretty on the table.
Lovely floral arrangement sent from Son-in-laws parents -- it will be so lovely on the table tomorrow.
Thank you so much, C & D -- wish you were here.  And dear Steph and family --
how I wish you all were here.  Miss you so very much.

Fantastic evening out. We went to see The Lion King. It was just fantastic.

ALZHEIMER'S STUDY QUILT PROJECT

Always looking for a new project. Came across a short blurb in our local news paper about lap quilts for an Alzheimer's study -- this is for small lap quilts that go directly to the patient. Please read the particulars here:
After I finish a prayer shawl, it is on to the lap quilts for this group.
Care to join me?

Taking a Break........

Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2010
OK, so last night I started something new -- but before I went to bed, went back to UFO's and
finished one more shawl -- this one may be a keeper for me -- it is in black, gray, silver, brown,
dark brown -- all my colors -- and I need a shawl too, right?  LOL
Will post photo tomorrow -- too dark tonight and this one will photograph better outside I think.

Taking a break from hats and shawls for a bit --- just began a new (to me) pattern - don't know what you would call it, it is a short scarf -- rather like a crocheted "ascot".  Free pattern from JoAnn Fabrics.

Two More Caps

Two more caps finished -- now to find another pattern so I don't get too bored with the same pattern -- though I do love this one and it creates a cap that is very comfortable to wear.  Can have brim down or turn it up -- either way looks nice and is most comfortable.

Two Wonderful Crocheted Caps From Stephanie

The mail brought two
wonderful crocheted caps from California.
Daughter, Steph, has crocheted a couple
beautiful caps to join those that will
soon be going to patients.

Thank you, Steph, it is such fun to
share this with you.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And here (below) is another charity I am considering.  I have lots of small amounts of yarn and could easily do a "patch work" crocheted lap  quilt.  This was in today's newspaper. (click to enlarge)
Blogging is such fun and I have made many wonderful friends because of it.
Trying out another crochet pattern....
Came across a delightful pattern for a crocheted cap.  Finished it easily in one short afternoon.
Click on above photos to enlarge.
Love the spiral pattern.  Here is the link to the pattern so graciously shared with the designer:
I found this pattern to be such fun to do, started another in purple grape yarn. I may just have to keep this one when it is finished -- how does the poem go?  "When I Grow Old I Think I Shall Wear Purple....."
Just finished the purple cap.  Really like how it turned out.
New Favorite.........
I have added the new site of my favorite musician in the right hand column.
Stephanie's beautiful music has brought me much joy over the years --
Thank you, Steph :-)
Two Shawls and Five Caps
Finished two more prayer shawls and 5 chemo caps.
We are enjoying cooler days and the yarn again feels soft and comforting in my hands.
Sunday, August 29, 2010
Finished a few more items.......
A prayer shawl finished. Friend, Barb, and three of her book club friends furnished the yarn for this prayer shawl -- I crocheted it -- this coming week Barb will find a "home" for it. The "model" is rather short, so the shawl won't be as long on most people ;-)
Also finished more adult size caps.  Now working on a few family gifts and then will get back to shawls and caps and baby bonnets.
Keeping Busy......
August 6, 2010
Just finished up 4 more little caps for newborn babies.
These are quick and fun -- shortly will be back to more
       of the adult size for Halos of Hope.
August 3, 2010
Yesterday I finished up the friendship/prayer shawl I was working on.
~~~~~

Also did a few more baby caps for the hospital.  As soon as I know if the pattern for the newborn babies is OK I will do up more.  Fortunately you can get several out of one skein of yarn.  If anyone has any simple crochet baby hat patterns I would love them.  It is always great to have different patterns to use.

A Delightful Evening.....

On Thursday evening went to see Shrek the Musical onstage at the Cadillac Theater in Chicago.  What a nice evening with daughter and two youngest grandsons.
From 7 to 70+ it was a night to remember.

Halos of Hope

While at the Midwest Fiber and Folk Art Fair visited at the Northern Illinois Chapter of The Crochet Guild of America.  One of their projects is Halos of Hope.  Now, this is something I can easily do -- and I always have some yarn at the house, so last night I set about locating a pattern and ended up with the one pictured. This goes quickly and is an enjoyable, simple, pattern to do.  I have five finished now of this pattern and hope to turn them in to the Halos of Hope group at the Stitches Midwest show in a couple weeks.  If I don't make it to the show I have local options also.
Added another colorful little "halo"

July 31, 2010
Today I added two newborn size caps.
