Slow Progress on Timrek

Beading time has been at a premium this last week, but I did get a LITTLE beading done on Timrek. This photo shows my very slow progress.

Meet Amelia #3

Just have to share......

I purchased this darling little doll from Dot (of Dotee Doll fame) from her Etsy store. Isn't she just the cutest? I love her and can hardly wait for her arrival. She has a long way to come -- all the way from Australia to Illinois -- but she will receive a very warm welcome when she arrives. It will be a bit like having Dot here ---

You can see Dot's other offerings HERE.

A Little Progress ~

I was able to get a small start on Timrek (that's Kermit spelled backwards LOL) tonight.  All the beads are shades of green -- the ones that look black are actually an olive green.  It will be interesting to see how many of the green beads I have on the tray that I actually use.

PIF ~~~ Round 2

OK folks, here we go again.
I had such fun with the PIF a few months ago that I am doing it not once but twice more. So, read the statement below and if you are one of the first 3 to leave comment on this post, have a blog, and commit to sending out your PIF gifts, I will get a handmade gift off to you. Here's how it goes:

"Pay It Forward rules: I will send a handmade gift to the first 3 people who leave a comment on my blog requesting to join this PIF exchange (and email me their mailing address), and who make the same pledge on their own blogs.I don't know what that gift will be yet and you may not receive it tomorrow or next week, but you will receive it within 365 days, that is my promise! The only thing you have to do in return is pay it forward meaning you will do the same for three people who comment on your blog."

This is my round two ---
Let's all have fun.

#1. Sammy of Sammy's Stuff is the first to sign up. Congratulations, Sammy.
#2. Mary of Miss Southern Breeze is the second. One more to go for this round of PIF.
#3. Donetta of A Life Uncommon is the third and final participant of this round of PIF.

OK, now it is time for me to get busy and get the gifties made for you all :-)

One Challenge Finished A New Challenge Begun

Just finished my Arsenic & Old Lace Beaded Doll challenge -- Etalli's photo is in the post below.
So, one challenge finished a new one begun.  This challenge is for a beaded puzzle piece doll.
Each participant was assigned a specific color -- the piece is to be beaded 100% with that color only(and shades of it).

I was assigned the color green, The Sesame Street song, "It's Not Easy Being Green" kept going through my head -- so, meet TIMREK - for you Sesame Street affection-ados , that is Kermit spelled backwards. Click to listen to Kermit singing "It's Not Easy Being Green"

Beaded Doll Challenge Finished

Last night I finished "Etalli", my doll for the Arsenic and Old Lace beaded doll challenge. She is hard to photograph, but here she is in all her sinister glory.

Kumihimo Necklace with beads

Finally did it, my first Kumihimo necklace with beads. It is 26 inches in length and used 17g of beads. The close-up photo with the black background shows truer colors. I think it will look well with casual dress -- like jeans LOL.
Today the temperature was above freezing, the snow is melting and the birds are back in force. This little guy was enjoying a thistle seed treat outside my kitchen window.

Kumihimo and a 5 year old

Stayed with the grandsons yesterday and took a foam Kumihimo wheel with -- the five year old had a wonderful time with it.  Think the pictures tell the story.

My Marudai

Here is a photo of the Marudai my husband made for me. It was a stool used at my sewing machine and is just the perfect height for a Marudai (round stand). All he had to do was drill a hole in the center. I can't wait to give it a trial run.

Kumihimo Class --

Today was the Kumihimo class -- and what a great time it was. Learned many ways of braiding -- there were only three of us in the class so we all had more individual time. Betty Kirk was the instructor and she was great. The class was held at TLD Design Center & Gallery in Westmont, IL. A long drive for me but well worth it.
