November Calender Doll (Beaded Art Dolls)

I just finished the beading on my November piece for the Beaded Art Dolls Calender Doll Challenge.  The ultra suede is drying on the back and I hope tomorrow evening I can finish the edges and have her all done.  Then on to my BJP bird for November.

Here is #3 of the calender doll series --
November
ALMOST finished.

I'm not too thrilled with this piece -- but I hope with time she will grow on me.

I do LOVE your BJP for October -- it is a great page.

Thanks for your sweet comment yesterday! I can't wait to see your beading, too! Also, just wanted you to know that you can feed your blog to Twitter HERE. Great way to reach more people! :D

Oh, she's a cutie, Jackie! I like the way you use different shapes for your dolls. I just cut out 16 shapes for my doll pin/pendants. All the same, but different colors. I guess the challenge will be to make them look different. I'm going to try to use some of my wonky little faces on them, but I have to paint some of them first.

Jackie - yet ANOTHER amazing little piece; just full of personality. You've certainly influenced my beading goals - I've never done an art doll, but I have some faces on order from Etsy and as soon as they arrive, I'll be trying my hand at this! One is a skeleton head that I just couldn't resist! Can't wait to see what that one turns into......

I love this doll, it is beautiful. I was wondering if I might ask a question of you. I would like to do some sculptural beading (such as birds or other animals) and wondered if you prefer beading on a pre-stitched and stuffed piece or do you bead on flat backing and then stitch it together (and stuff it) after the beading is finished. I'm not sure which is the best way to do this. Thank you.

Thank you all once again -- you're the greatest.

Penny -- This little doll is a "flat" doll. She is beaded on Pellon Peltex 70 with an ultra suede back. For "real" dolls, I prefer to bead on the pre-stitched and stuffed pieces. Much easier to handle and to get your beads in the "right" place. If you don't sew, you can find pre made forms (very nice ones) on Etsy.com -- click HERE for Etsy listing for doll forms. It's a starting place.

Thank you. I can sew, maybe I'll try to put together some shapes and see how I do.
