Orange Julia ~~ A Little More Done

I can't believe how busy these last few weeks have been -- I did do a little more beading on Orange Julia. I decided that since Julia will be staying with me, and this is my first 100% beaded doll, that I would use her to try out different ways to cover the form with beads -- her back is getting there -- and I am having a lot of fun trying out different beads and stitches. Some beads do not photograph well (below her neck, for instance) -- this has really been fun -- just wish I had a little more time.

She's looking great! Do I see a bit of peyote stitch to the left of the first large orange nailhead?

LB - sure wish we still had an Orange Julius here ;-(

Maggie -- appreciate hearing from you -- and thanks. I admire your work tremendously,

Dianne, you are always there with a kind, encouraging word -- you're a dear.

BB- aha, you noticed ;-) Yes, trying out peyote on a form -- there is also peyote on the right -- but it looks so different becaused instead of going straight up and down, right or left -- it begins at the point in the shoulder and goes diagonally to the large upper nail head. Just using a different direction sure makes it look different, doesn't it?

This is such a fun learning experience.

Wow! Looking really good! how do you do it??? Bead after stuffing? I don't have that knack.... Great job!

Yes, Leslie, the beading is done after stuffing the doll-- and the harder the doll is stuffed, the better. I have no doubts that you would do a wonderful job of it - all your work is so lovely.

She is beautiful. I love the techniques. I found a local bead shop that offers classes. I am excited about the opportunity to learn while watching. All these years of being self taught leave me wanting.
